Maranda and Kameron had a beautiful winter bohemian Gatlinburg wedding day in the Smoky Mountains! They rented a gorgeous cabin in Gatlinburg where they got ready with their bridal party! Their ceremony was SO sweet and had touches of boho wedding decor. The entire day was filled with lots of laughter, love, and happiness. One of my favorite parts of the day was when we drove to the mountains for their newlywed portraits. The lighting was perfect and it turned out so beautiful. This is one of my favorite locations for portraits and wedding days because of the landscape, waterfalls, and boulders. Winter Boho Wedding Day In The Gatlinburg, Tennessee
I felt so honored to be a part of this stunning Gatlinburg wedding day with Maranda and Kameron! There were so many moments that I think back on that make me so giddy. I loved that they were able to take advantage of the beautiful Smoky Mountains for their couples' portraits AND enjoyed the beautiful mountain sunsets. One of my favorite things about the mountains in the wintertime is the purple hue they get at sunset. It's the perfect mix of barren trees, a little layer of snow, and golden rays from the sun! After their portraits, everyone cozied up at their reception for hot coffee and pizza then, they danced the night away with their close family and friends. It was truly the perfect day with the most beautiful souls.
How To Plan A Smoky Mountain Wedding Day In The Winter
When planning for a winter Gatlinburg wedding day in the Smoky Mountains there are a few logistical considerations to keep in mind! It’s important to be aware of road closures in and around the National Park during the winter months. The NPS frequently closes roads, especially at higher elevations, due to icy conditions. The best resource for getting the most up-to-date information on roads is to check the GSMNP Twitter account called “Smokies Road Info”. I always recommend having a backup plan (or two) when planning a winter wedding or elopement in the Smoky Mountains. Typically I recommend a lower elevation spot as well as a spot “in town” as backup plans because the roads tend to be in better condition in those locations. My recommendation is to opt for early spring to still get the enchanting look of a winter wedding with above-freezing temps to ease the logistic challenges that come with snowy mountain roads.
